Week 10 – Final Project Peer Response

→  READ ALL OF THIS CAREFULLY ←

This peer response session will have two purposes:

  1. To help with the draft and revision of the project
  2. To help with the writing of the reflection component

I realize you’ll all be working with different genres for peer response this time, but you do not need to be an expert (or even know anything about the genre) to be helpful with this process. Instead, as with our previous peer response session, you should all be serving as the audience for the author. So, the questions you have as the reader/audience will be helpful for one another as you all make your choices for the project and explain them in the reflection. In other words, you want to make sure that your project is reaching the audience in the intended way; here is the chance to ensure that through conversation and feedback.

In your peer response groups:

  1. In either your group folder or the Shared Drive → Activities → Week 10 folder, create a new document with tabs or a new folder.
  2. Each group member should place a copy of your draft in a tab or in that folder; be sure to clearly lable your drafts with your names.
  3. One person should go first…
    • The author should explain what genre they’re writing in, give an overview, and then explain the purpose of your project. Basically… talk through your paper and express your concerns
    • Everyone should ask and write questions they have about specific choices the author made, both in the margins and below the draft. For example:
      1. Why did you include [specific thing]?
      2. Why did you format [specific thing] this way?
      3. Why did you pick [specific genre] to write in?
      4. How does [specific thing] contribute to your goal?
      5. What examples of [chosen genre] did you look at?
(ALL OF THIS CAN/SHOULD BE ANSWERED IN THE REFLECTION PART OF THE FINAL PROJECT)
    • Also, everyone should leave standard peer response feedback and questions… be as detailed and helpful as you can be. This feedback can be in response to the writing and the content and development. Wash, rinse, repeat with each project.
  4. Complete the peer response reflection in your individual folders (questions also included below)

Peer Response Reflection

In a new document in your individual google drive folders, write in response to the following questions (this can/will replace the Participation Notebook entry for the week):

  1. How was the peer response overall? What kind of feedback did you receive?
  2. What kinds of questions did your peers leave on your paper? How might they be helpful as you write the reflection component?
  3. What concerns do you have about the final project? The reflection?
  4. What are the next steps you plan to take with everything?
  5. How are you doing?
